| How to read it | Items marked PLANNED describe features that are not built yet; they apply only when that feature launches. |
1. Agreeing to these terms
These terms are the rules for using MilApp. By ticking "I agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy" when you sign up (or when you first sign in with Google), you agree to them and to our privacy policy, which explains how we handle your personal information. We record which version you accepted. If you do not agree, please do not use MilApp.
2. Who can use MilApp
- You must be 18 or over. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and refuse anyone under 18. Giving a false date of birth breaks these terms and we will remove the account.
- You must be able to make a binding agreement under the law where you live.
- You may have only one account, and it must be yours. You may not use MilApp if we have removed you before, unless we agree.
3. What MilApp is, and what it is not
MilApp helps adults who are near each other right now to meet in person, in a public place, for networking or company.
- You Go Live for 15 to 30 minutes. While you are live, you see a list of other live people who can be reached within about 15 to 30 minutes on foot or by car, and they see you.
- You can invite someone. If they accept, a text chat opens for 15 minutes.
- In the chat, either of you can propose a meeting at a public place. If both agree, the app helps you find each other, with an optional shared live map.
- PLANNED After the meeting, you rate each other.
MilApp is a meetup app, not a dating app. Everyone who is live and within reach sees everyone else. There are no dating-style filters by age, gender or looks, and you should not use MilApp to look for romantic or sexual encounters.
MilApp does not offer: group meetings, payments or subscriptions, working voice or video calls (the call buttons in a chat are not active), importing from social media, or advertising.
4. Your account
- Give accurate information, and keep it up to date. Use your real first name and a photo that is clearly you.
- Keep your sign-in details safe, and tell us at once if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- You can change your name at most once every 30 days. We keep a sealed record of earlier names for safety (see the privacy policy).
- Your date of birth is locked once saved. If you made a mistake, email us and we will correct it after checking.
5. How to behave
MilApp only works if people feel safe. By using it, you agree:
5.1 Do
- Be honest about who you are, in your profile and in person.
- Be respectful and polite, in chats and at meetings.
- Meet only in public places, and tell the other person if your plans change.
- Respect a "no". If someone declines your invitation, you cannot invite them again for 7 days, and not at all after two declines.
5.2 Do not
- Harass, threaten, bully, stalk, intimidate or discriminate against anyone.
- Post or send nudity, sexual content, or violent or hateful content. Never share intimate images of anyone.
- Pretend to be someone else, or use someone else's photo.
- Ask for or offer money, sell anything, promote a business, recruit for a scheme, or send spam or scam links.
- Use MilApp for sex work, dating, or any illegal activity.
- Follow someone, or use the app to find out where someone lives or works.
- Share other people's information from MilApp outside the app, record them, or take or share screenshots of their profiles or chats.
- Use MilApp if you are under 18, or help anyone under 18 to use it.
- Try to get around a block, a hold or a removal, for example with a new account.
- Use bots or automated tools, scrape the app, interfere with how it works, fake your location, or try to break its security.
6. Safety at real-world meetings
Please read this carefully. MilApp introduces you to people you do not know. Meeting a stranger always carries some risk.
6.1 What we do
- Only adults can sign up. A founder reviews photos the automatic check was unsure about.
- An optional photo check (a selfie copying a random pose, compared by a founder) gives a "Photo checked" badge. It shows that the photo is likely the same person; it is not an identity, background or criminal-record check.
- Exact locations are never shown to other people, only rounded distances. Sharing your live location in a meeting is your choice, and you can stop at any time.
- During a meeting, a red safety button asks "Do you need to make an emergency call?". It opens your phone's dialler with 112 in India or 999 in Hong Kong; you press call yourself. It also shows the meeting address to read out, and lets you share your meeting details with a friend.
- You can block or PLANNED report anyone, at any time.
6.2 What we do not do
- We do not check who people are. We do not verify identities, run background checks, or check criminal records. We cannot promise that anyone is who they say they are, or that they will behave well.
- MilApp is not an emergency or safety service. We do not watch meetings, we cannot send help, and we never call the emergency services for you. In an emergency, call 112 (India) or 999 (Hong Kong) yourself. In other places, call the local emergency number; the app may not know it.
- We are not present at meetings and do not control what people do there.
- We cannot guarantee that a place suggested by the app is open, safe or public.
6.3 Your responsibility
- You decide whether to meet someone, and you are responsible for your own safety and your own actions at a meeting.
- Meet in busy public places. Tell a friend where you are going. Arrange your own travel. Do not go to a private address. Leave if you feel uncomfortable.
- Never send money to someone you met on MilApp.
7. Ratings, reports, blocks and moderation
- Blocks. You can block anyone from their profile or a chat. Blocking is immediate: you and that person stop seeing each other everywhere, and any chat or shared location between you stops. They are not told.
- PLANNED Ratings. After a meeting, each person rates the other from 1 to 5 stars. Others see only your average and how many ratings you have; you never see a single rating or who gave it. Rate honestly and only on the meeting.
- PLANNED Reports. You can report someone from their profile, a chat or a meeting, for up to 30 days after you were in touch. A report includes a copy of the chat, so a founder can review it. Do not make false or malicious reports.
- Who decides. Moderation decisions are made by the founders, Kinshuk Mishra and Saurabh Upadhyay. PLANNED An AI model may help a founder by summarising a report or a low rating and suggesting an action, but it never takes any action by itself: a founder always decides. Low ratings alone never lead to an automatic action.
- What a founder may do. Dismiss a report, warn you, put your account on hold, or remove it. PLANNED If your average rating falls below 4.2 after at least 5 ratings, we will send you a warning; below 4.0, a founder will review your account.
- We may also review or remove a photo or profile text that breaks these terms, for example after an automatic photo check.
8. Holds and removal
- Hold. While your account is on hold, you can sign in but you cannot go live, invite people or chat, and other people cannot see you. Any open chat, invitation or meeting ends. A founder can put an account on hold while a report is looked into. PLANNED, from the public launch: if two different people make serious safety reports about you within 7 days, your account is put on hold automatically until a founder reviews it.
- Removal. If a founder decides you have broken these terms, they may remove your account. You will be signed out and cannot sign in again. We may keep information to stop you signing up again, as the privacy policy explains.
- Review. If your account is removed, the app shows a short message and a button to email us to ask for a review. A founder will look at it again.
- We may act without warning if we believe someone is at risk, or if the law requires it.
9. Your content
- "Your content" means your photo, name, profile text, work, education, interests, messages and PLANNED ratings and comments.
- You keep ownership of your content.
- You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, resize, show and send your content, only to run MilApp: for example to show your profile to people nearby, deliver your messages, review reports and check photos. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we keep as the privacy policy describes (for example a report's copy of a chat).
- We do not use your photo or profile in advertising or marketing without asking you first.
- You confirm that you have the right to share your content, and that your photo shows you.
10. The app and our content
- MilApp, its design, name, logo and software belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app on your own phone, for its intended purpose.
- Some data and fonts in the app come from other sources under open licences (for example lists of colleges and places). They are credited on a licence page in the app.
- Feedback you send us may be used to improve MilApp, without payment to you.
11. A new service, provided as it is
MilApp is new. During the pilot it is a test version that may have mistakes, may stop working, and may change or lose data. We may change, pause or stop any feature, or the whole service, at any time.
To the extent the law allows, MilApp is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will always work, be accurate (for example travel times, distances or places), or be free of errors.
12. Limits on our responsibility
- We are not responsible for the behaviour of any user, online or at a meeting, or for any loss, injury or harm that results from meeting someone through MilApp.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss, or for loss of data, profit or opportunity.
- Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that cannot be limited by law, for example for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
13. Ending your use of MilApp
- You can stop using MilApp at any time and delete your account. PLANNED: Settings, then Delete account. Until that launches, email us from your account's email and we will delete it. The privacy policy explains what is erased and what is kept.
- We may suspend or end your account as described in section 8, or if we stop offering MilApp. If we stop the service, we will try to tell you in advance.
- Sections 9 (the parts about copies we keep), 11, 12, 15 and 16 continue after your account ends.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when new features launch. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app and ask you to accept the new version before you continue. If you do not accept it, you can delete your account.
15. Law and disputes
Before going to court, please contact us so we can try to solve the problem.
16. General
- These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about MilApp.
- If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to a company that takes over MilApp, which must keep to these terms.
- Google Play and Apple are not party to these terms and are not responsible for MilApp.
